Paramore - I Hate to See Your Heartbreak

There is not a single word, in the whole world
That could describe the hurt the dullest knife just sawing back and forth
And ripping through the softest skin there ever was

How were you to know?
Well, how were you to know?

And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes get darker as they close
But I’ve been there before
And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes get darker as they close
But I’ve been there before

Love, happens all the time, to people who aren’t kind
And heroes who are blind,
Expecting perfect script in movie scenes
Once an awkward silence mystery

How were you to know?
Well how were you to know, oh, oh?

And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes, get darker as they close
But I’ve been there before
And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes, get darker as they close
But I’ve been there before

For all the air that’s in your lungs
For all the joy that is to come
For all the things that you’re alive to feel
Just let the pain remind you hearts can heal

Well, how were you to know?
Well, how were you to know?

And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes, get darker as they close
But I’ve been there before
And I, I hate to see your heart break
I hate to see your eyes, get darker as they close
But I’ve been there before

Here's the video (featuring Joy William):

Such a beautiful emotional and empathetic song. The title itself talks explicitly about the theme of this very song. I hate to see your heartbreak.

It hurts to see someone that we deeply care for is hurting, stuck like quicksand. We don't want them to be hurting like that, and we honestly want to soothe them by somehow telling them that they aren't alone, we've been in that very same state before. We want them to get past this emotional strain and keep fighting for life. But, deep inside, we know how intense this hurt is which inevitably could sink us into depression. It requires strong force to keep pushing on through the pain. And we want them to know, we are here, we care for them and we want to help them pulling out of this dark suffering. Just keep moving on. Have faith in time, time does heal your heartbreak dear.

... How were you to know?
