UPSR 2017 - English Paper (Sample UPSR Papers)

There is a new format for English paper starting from 2016. Now, students have to take 2 papers, well they are not actually taking additional papers, but rather English subject will now be graded in 2 papers, just like the Bahasa Melayu papers. The 2 papers are;
  • English Paper 1 - Paper 013 (Bahasa Inggeris Pemahaman)
  • English Paper 2 - Paper 014 (Bahasa Inggeris Penulisan)
Here is an analysis based on a sample paper for UPSR 2016.

UPSR Paper 013 (English - Paper 1)
Time allowed: 1 hour 15 minutes. This paper comprises of 2 sections:
  • Section A - Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Section B - Open-Ended Questions
UPSR Paper 013: English Paper 1 - Section A
  • 20 MCQ - 1 mark each - total 20 marks
  • Student needs to choose the best answer out of the 4 choices (A, B, C, D)
Here is an example of UPSR English Paper 1 - Section A.

UPSR Paper 013: English Paper 1 - Section B
  • 5 open-ended questions (numbered from 21 until 25)
  • Total 30 marks, usually with minimum 2 marks and maximum 6 marks for each question
  • Students should pay more attention at the given information (passage, pictures, map, poster, etc.)

UPSR 2016: English Paper 013 (Paper 1 - Section B) from IMSHA LEARNING

UPSR Paper 014 (English - Paper 2)
Time allowed: 1 hour 15 minutes. This paper comprises of 3 sections:
  • Section A - Information Transfer - 10 marks
  • Section B - Based on the data given, student needs to make
    • a listing (transfer of information, verbatim) - 3 marks
    • a composition of 50-80 words - 12 marks
  • Section C
    • Student needs to answer only one question
    • Write a story based on the picture(s) and words given
    • This composition must be within 50-80 words only
    • 25 marks
